Should I Be Concerned??
I saw these streaks on this plant I rescued a couple of months ago. Is this something I should worry about? Also, are the leaves supposed to grow upwards? This is a type of peperomia.

The streaks on the trunk are normal. This is a Pilea peperomoides commonly called a Chinese money plant. They can get quite tall but they usually produce loads of babies at the bottom and along the stem. The cupping of the leaves is usually caused by low humidity or the soil is being kept too dry.

This is not pilea peperomioides. This is peperomia polybotrya

I think you are probably right Tanya but how are you sure? I can't see the points on the leaves and I have seen the peperomoides that are also tall. Also, and I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything here, just gaining knowledge, although I think curling of the leaves are common I do not think it is the way it should be. Overwatering, underwatering and low light can all cause leaf curl. So my thought is if it's just a little bit low light the leaves may be continually curled a little bit. Does that make any sense?

Because I’ve had both the pilea peperomioides and a raindrop peperomia in my collection. I can tell the difference in the growth pattern and leaf shape. The OP doesn’t have great photos showing all angles of the leaves. Also, the stem of the pilea is woody looking, not green like this peperomia. It seems planta commonly makes this mistake in plant identification all the time. Once you look at each plant more often, it’s easier to spot the differences and identify them!

Thanks, I will have to keep an eye out so I can compare the two.

Wow! Thank you so much. I have been misting it apprx. 3 times a week and allowing it to dry between waterings. I guess I will up my misting game and now I can at least identify it properly 😂. That alone may make all the difference.

This seems normal for the plant. I wouldn’t be concerned. Some cupping of the leaves is normal too
