# My Monstera Swiss cheese is always making new leaves, but they…

_Posted by Xanthe on 2025-02-15_

My Monstera Swiss cheese is always making new leaves, but they haven’t been unfolding. They are there for a long time and don’t do anything so I have had to open them on my own several times now. I spray the plant to up the humidity and water as needed. Please help me figure out what’s wrong!

Have you checked the roots? Do they have enough light?

It is only two feet from the window and the roots seem to be alright

This happened with mine when there wasn’t enough humidity. Do you have a humidifier or have you tried to pebble tray trick?

I’ll Definitely try that thank you

I give my plant a grow light, no humidity and it likes to be in a pot a little bigger than its root ball. I would repot it and stake the leafs. Hope that helps

Misting or a wet paper towel on the new leaf can add moisture to allow it to unfurl easier.

Keeping the top of the soil clear of objects will allow it to dry faster. Continuously wet soil rots the roots and provides an environment for insect eggs and larvae to thrive.
