Hi all I have been seeing some fungus gnats in my office where all my plants are and I have the yellow sticky traps out but I want to know how dangerous this is for the plants and if some granuals and sticky traps can’t fix it. It hasn’t really been a problem before but now I’m worried as I am see some brown on the leaves as well as gnats all around on many plants just wanting to keep the greenery happy lol thanks all

gnats can indicate root rot (which might be where the brown leaves are coming from) and/or overwatering (which also contributes to root rot). there are several ways to deal with gnats depending on how bad the infestation is. if you have any healthy gnat-free plants, sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the soil and it will keep away bugs. the gnats infested ones, i would 1) check the roots for rotting and snip the diseased ones. 2) spray down (not soaking, but wet) the healthy roots with a solution of hydrogen peroxide and filtered water. 3) repot the plants into fresh soil. i also spray down the pot a lil bit with the same hydrogen peroxide solution just in case. if the infestation is really bad, i would attempt some insecticide first before doing the steps above. just be careful with overwatering in the future :)

i just got done dealing with a small gnat problem with my cilantro so i literally did all these steps yesterday and this morning (it’s late afternoon now) and i have not seen a single gnat. but i’m keeping an eye out for the next few days just in case lol

Butterwort literally demolishes any gnat population. Highly recommend and you get an excuse for another plant.
