# My fave fern is turning yellow and brown since i brought her inside…

My fave fern is turning yellow and brown since i brought her inside and this is the first time she’s done this. I use a moisture meter to check the soil before I water. The plant is also in the exact same spot where it sits during winter months. I’d love this plant so much and I’ve had it for almost 5 years and I’d hate to lose it now. I’d love any help!

It looks too dry. The soil has pulled away from the pot. Water could be running between the pot at the soil and missing the middle of the root boy. I recommend bottom watering until the clay pot and top soil are wet. Then, drain the excess water from the soil. M

I recommend getting a second verification on whether the soil is still wet and not totally rely on a meter. A wooden or bamboo skewers show the moisture level in the soil.

Check if it needs a repot.  
Check if the humidity is too low. Home heaters can dry out plants and people 🍀🪴

When it draws away from the pot it sometimes becomes hydrophobic. You might try a few bottom watering sessions

I’d also trim down any leaves that aren’t savable. Will give your plan the best chance to give its energy to the rest of it.

Ugh you guys, thank you!!! So much valuable info from you three and i appreciate it SO MUCH! Now I’m off to bottom water and hopefully save this kiddo!!🤞🏻
