Too much water maybe? I let my umbrella trees go bone dry before I water them. I've had them for a few years now and they seem to be happy.

The soil is wet because I just watered it this morning, before I watered it the soil was dry.

You might want to check the roots. This looks like it’s underwatered actually. But if you are watering and the soil is wet, likely the root system is rotted and thus the plant is unable to uptake water
