# I have several plants that have this coating on the top layer of…

I have several plants that have this coating on the top layer of dirt. I assume it’s mold? But it’s only in a few plants, not all of them. How do I get rid of this?

Are you overwatering the plants? The mold might be growing because the soil is always wet and not drying out.

i agree with ashley, it looks like water is staying in the soil for too long and or there is not enough aeration. if these plants like lots of water, then i would recommend poking the soil with a toothpick or sitck to aerate the soil (allowing air to enter the soil so it doesn’t just ist there wet)

You could try and repot them then make sure not to give them too muck water and repot them into a pot with better drainage.

Sometimes that can be due to root rot… Sometimes when the planta apps tells you to water it make sure the top of the soil is dry because the app is not always right. Hope that helps.
