I’ve had this golden pothos for a few weeks now ive watered it a couple times. The last time I watered it I measured out .8 cups because I read that’s the correct amount. I’ve noticed that the new leaves are browning and the one in the 2nd pic hasn’t even come out yet and it’s brown. It’s around 4 ft from the window and I don’t get direct sunlight just whatever reflects off the snow or what comes through the window. The last time I watered it was around a week ago and the top soil is dry but I can feel the soil through the drainage holes is slightly damp. What’s going on? Am I overwatering? Underwatering? I’ve really wanted one of these plants for a while and I don’t want to kill it.

I would only water once the soil is completely dry, not based on how much cups it gets and “suggested” frequency! Every plant is different even in the same species, as is every environment and lighting conditions it is in! Pothos like to be dry completely! PlantyAnn suggests checking soil dampness with a wooden skewer placed in the soil to the bottom of the pot. Let it sit for a minute and once you take it out, look for dampness on the skewer and/ or clumps of soil. If it has either of these that means it’s not ready to be watered yet! Wait a couple days and check again. When you do water, I would highly suggest watering until water starts running out of the drainage holes. This allows excess minerals and other things in the soil to be shed off. Overwatering happens most often from frequency of watering, not amount of water given during a single water. As long as the plant will not sit in excess water, there shouldn’t be a concern! I would also suggest trying to give it more light if you can, if needed with a grow light! But try one thing at a time so you can monitor changes/ improvements and know which variable helped/ didn’t help! I hope this was helpful and that it made sense!
