You talking about the yellow tips? That’s fine and normal, just means humidity may be a bit low!

What about the white spots? They are not removable with water

The white specks look an awful lot like spider mites, it’s kinda hard to tell if some of it is just mineral build up though.

I tried to white down the leaves with a wet paper towel but I didn’t see any stain. Could it be thrips?

Thirp damage doesn’t really look like that, perhaps hard water staining?

I agree with soup, youd see different damage with thrips. I’d try wiping down with diluted vinegar and water or diluted castille soap and see if it comes off.

If it’s just looking like mineral buildup on the paper towel that’s okay, (maybe switch to distilled water). If it looks like little tiny bugs, treat it with jacks dead bug, neem oil, or castille.

I’m still leaning towards mites

My guess is spider mites based on the white speckling. It will cause yellowing leaves. Castile soap and water mix, (Google ratios) spray the leaves every couple of days for a few weeks and it’ll get rid of them. Also keep it away from other plants so they don’t spread and I’d recommend treating any other surrounding plants. Alocasias are spider mite magnets unfortunately. Use unscented Castile soap and it’s gentle and can be used regularly on your plants

Is there webbing on your plant? From the photos she looks dusty. I would think this velvet plant would be a magnet for dust and fuzzies
