Hey everyone! In need of desperate help.
I recently had to repot a bunch of my plants and they look far worse than before and it’s scaring me…. The soil doesn’t feel super wet after watering . They look really limp and unhealthy. I’m so devastated.
The Palm I have has new growth but some of the leaves look so dried out and dying .

I’m usually so great until I repot 😞

The signs of what I’m seeing are completely opposite of what I know and I need help.

Plants tend to go in a little bit of shock after you repot them, give them time to adjust they all look pretty healthy

Thank you! Any suggestions on how to move forward?

They really need time to adjust after repotting. Repotting disturbs the root system disrupting the photosynthesis process and affect leaves/stems/vines. It could take a couple of weeks or more to recover.

Ficus can drop leaves just by moving to a new location in the room. Repotting can affect them. Place them back in the same location where they were thriving.

The spider plant might have an additional lighting issue since it’s so pale. See my photo. Both low light and excessive light can make them pale. Low fertilizer can cause the same issue. Be sure to fertilize at least once a month or twice a month with diluted fertilizer to avoid fertilizer burn. Give it a grow light (12hrs/day) or place in filtered sunlight for about 8 hours a day.

Thanks! It’s probably fertilizer then as it was thriving 100% recently further away but still had this issue from recent potting . I guess my question is how to move forward with it!? I’m scared lol I have back up babies I propagated lol

I would wait to give them time to adjust from the repotting, don’t water until they dry out, then when you water apply the fertilizer, I wouldn’t add more stress to the plant at this time

Thank you! I’m still learning so much…. Usually by killing my plants lol

My spider plants never looked like that even as babies though- it’s a different shade/ variant?

I thought that was a parlor Palm I was going to say I have to miss mine every day the leaves get dry and I have to give it a little sip of water too everyday 😵‍💫

You mean the weeping fig? Or the spider plant? I also have a palm plant there too. They looked PHENOMENAL before I repotted lol

So nice! I'm sure they will come back I feel you on the backup babies tho 😩🤦🤣

I separated the bulb mass when I repotted so as soon as I did that I knew the amount of stress it would be enduring.

I can’t undo it though lol
Thanks for the lovely feedback.

You typically don’t need to remove all the soil from a spider plant during a repot unless something was wrong with the soil like pests/rot. A lot of thick roots will break. I typically just use a bigger pot and back fill the empty spots around the root ball with fresh soil.

I wouldn’t do anything else to it just let the soil dry out between waterings/fertilizing as Yolanda described.

My spider plants get brown chips and start looking thin if I don't water them every couple days but they are hanging and my sunroom they definitely don't like to dry out at my house 😩🪴

#### Cassanova replied on 2025-07-04

Is it direct sunlight? Mine seems to thrive from indirect

### 🪴 Botanical Bekka🌵 commented on 2025-07-07

Oh no their leaves would burn in direct sunlight I have sheer curtains up in my sunroom because no matter which side of the room the sun was beaming through throughout the day somehow some of my plants would have some direct light burning their leaves a lot less stressful with these share curtains I don't have to worry about that, although my polka dotted begonia was not a happy camper I had to move her back a little ways but everyone else seems happy 🥹🪴
