# Back from a few days away and I had house / dog / plant sitters…

Back from a few days away and I had house / dog / plant sitters taking care of everything. Poor little coleus is looking rough though. Ideas as to what has happened? Was it, perhaps, overwatered?

Suggestions would be welcome. I propagated “Cole” myself so I feel attached!

I’d check the soil and see if it’s super dry. Mine would start to look really sad if a was just a tad too far on the need to water side.

Looks like it needs water. Check the soil. Maybe the sitter didn’t water enough.

i don’t trust these- they say my soil is wet all the time until it’s bone dry. how does the soil FEEL, with your hands? don’t be afraid to stick your finger in there and figure it out- coleus need a fair amount of water especially in the summer. may be time for a repot soon.

I don’t trust these. Threw away 2 when they conflicted. I use a wooden skewer to soak in the soil a few minutes to verify if the skewer is wet. I also use my finger in very chunky potting mix.

I agree with the others. I had that exact model and it was fine for a bit but I could put it in bone dry soil and it would tell me it was soaking.

Sad update! Soul still moist to touch and my little plant is looking pretty bad! Ideas?
