Can someone tell me what this white stuff is on the soil and plant? And what should I do to get rid of it?

it’s mold. repot and treat with hydrogen peroxide solution. your soil is too dense holding onto too much moisture: you’ll want to at least add a fair bit of perlite to the new soil

The white substance on the soil and plant stem appears to be mold or fungal growth, likely due to overwatering, high humidity, or poor airflow around the plant. Here’s how to address the issue:

1\. Remove the Mold

• Gently scrape away the top layer of soil to remove the mold. Dispose of the soil properly, as you do not want to spread the mold spores.
• Wipe the affected areas on the plant stem with a damp cloth dipped in a solution of water and a small amount of dish soap, or use a diluted mix of water and hydrogen peroxide (1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts water).

2\. Improve Air Circulation

• Place the plant in an area with better airflow to prevent future mold growth. Consider using a small fan if necessary.

3\. Adjust Watering Practices

• Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Most plants prefer to dry out at least partially before being watered again.
• Ensure that the pot has proper drainage to prevent water from sitting at the bottom.

4\. Consider Repotting

• If the mold has significantly affected the soil, consider repotting the plant with fresh, sterile soil and a clean pot.

5\. Fungicide Application (If Needed)

• If the mold reoccurs, you can apply a natural fungicide like neem oil, cinnamon powder, or a commercial fungicide safe for houseplants.

By improving the plant’s growing conditions and keeping the soil properly aerated and dry between waterings, you should be able to prevent future mold growth.
