# URGENT: I have several plants that are getting yellow spots that…

_Gepostet von Plants\&theirMediums am 2025-01-06_

URGENT: I have several plants that are getting yellow spots that eventually turn clear until it turns into a hole. I once had this issue, cut all the leaves of all my plants that had it, and sprayed a copper based fungicide on EVERYTHING. It had gone away for like a year but now it’s back and worse. It’s also spread to so many of my plants that I really don’t wanna cut the leaves of/throw out. What is this, and can I get rid of it for good? My monstera also is getting these weird lines. Is this an insect? Fungus? Both?! Whats going on! This is spreading like wildfire by the HOUR!

Are you sure you're not seeing any pests? Fungal does not work that quickly. Bacterial will, but the treatments are limited. If it's spreading to plants that aren't near eachother I would sanitize all your tools, waterer, snips, clippers, everything

I’ll see your usual little flys near them every once in a blue moon, but never more than like two at a time since I constantly prevent/kill them all in all their stages. Assuming it is bacterial, what could I use? In the past I’ve used copper fungicide and that seemed to work (keep in mind i had also cut all the leaves first), but I also have neem oil, insecticidal soap, growsafe, and mosquito bits which i could use. Im not to sure which one is best to use considering I can’t cut all the leaves on a lot of my plants this time around.

The only antibacterial I know of is physan. Out of all of that I'd use Growsafe, as it's a pesticide and fungicide in 1. Are they fungus gnats kinda fat and round? Or thin and pointy shaped?

Not sure, i’ll look closer at them when i see them next time. For now I’ll isolate the plants and use growsafe.

If they are chubby, probably fungus... if they are thin or pointy, probably thrips.

Fungus gnats, looking at one on a sticky trap. I also just found out wayyy more plants have the fungus/bacteria thing than i originally thought. Especially in my greenhouse cabinet. Pretty much all my plants in there have it. I guess theres no need to isolate 😒.

Oops I don’t know why i mentioned mosquito bits lol

The BTI in it will kill fungus gnat larvae in the soil

Maybe unpot a plant or two to check its not an over water issue too. That can help push a fungal or bacterial. It's not surprising if it's bad in a cabinet as itd be more moist and warm.

I tend to underwater, however my cabinet is kept strictly at 85% humidity. I have 2 large fans blowing 24/7 in there and theres a lot of airflow, but it’s not a surprise things can still go rampant in there with all the humidity and warm air as you said. I’ll have to treat everything inside.

Gotcha. I would definitely sanitize anything you can as far as water resevoirs and tools, wipe down the shelves the plants are on even. Not that it's great, but hopefully it's just a fungal, and treating every 3 days for several weeks will kick it.
