# Is this pests or sunburn? I just got myself this plant from a nursery…

Is this pests or sunburn?  
I just got myself this plant from a nursery over the weekend and picked it because it has new growth on it! In the nursery I didn’t notice how bad it looks cosmetically. Now that’s its home I have been meticulously inspecting it trying to see if it’s pests? If it is I haven’t found any myself, the leaves are also a bit dirty because my kid recently knocked this plant over. If you see any indicators of pests please let me know maybe it will help me to know what to look for next time

( The dots in photo 2 are not dirt/dust they’re like little specks on the leaf itself I tried wiping them off)

Definitely seems dry. Is it in a humid space? Also, do you know if your water has any minerals in it?

Hey thanks for replying! There is a humidifier I run 8 hours a day right next to this plant and my house sits at 45 everywhere else using the house humidifier. I have hard water but I haven’t watered her here yet I’ve only owned this one for 4 days and it’s in some sort of spaghum mix that’s really moist ! I can try misting the leaves if you think that may help?

I am really paranoid about pests so I doused it with some jacks dead brew to be safe as well this evening

Well then I would definitely give it some time. Plants always need time to adjust to new environments. As long as its quarantined you should be fine

I just went through this same thing. Including my kid knocking it over. I suspect it’s a humidity issue so I added a humidifier and will come back. Worst comes to worst I’ll just chop the leaves off and propagate 😭
