# I got this umbrella tree about a month go and it’s roots were growing…

_Publicado por Casey el 2025-02-11_

I got this umbrella tree about a month go and it’s roots were growing through the plastic pots holes so I repotted on February 2nd. Over the past 3 days it’s dropped 5 entire stalks(leaves? Like the whole umbrella, not just one leaf). I follow the watering schedule on planta and let it get fairly dry. Some other posts I read suggested root rot but they seem healthy to me. Should I go back to the smaller plastic pot it came in? There is some new growth so it’s definitely still partially happy. I’m a new plant owner so I’m not really sure what to do next

I’m thinking the pot is too big for the plant. Compared to the size of the root ball, the pot seems about an inch or two big.

Thank you!

The pot may be a little bit large but they grow so fast. I think the leaf drop is more likely from the change in environment from the greenhouse to your house and transplant shock. How's your humidity?

I mist it every few days and generally keep the heater off in the room it’s in so I think the humidity is fine. I downsized the pot so we’ll see if it bounces back!
