I just bought this plant but i didn’t realize it was stained with this white stuff.  
Does anyone know what this is and how to remove it?

Residue from water buildup maybe?

No that is farina is natural it is made from the plant

Or maybe residue but I am leaning more towards farina

It looks like hard water residue or salts from fertilizer. You can use a diluted water and vinegar solution to clean it. I use it on my new purchases especially those plants arriving from Florida where the hard water leaves lots of water spots on the plants.

With Sunny here — nurseries spray them all. You can hose it off in the shower next watering day
