I was gifted this new baby today 🥹💗 however I feel like it may have powdery mildew? I sprayed the spots with a baking soda mixture that I read up on, wondering if there was anything else I could possibly do, or if maybe somebody thought it was something else. I read somewhere else that said to cut the infected leaves, but it’d break my heart to do that, so I want that as my last option 🥺

to me, that looks like hard water build up! powdery mildew looks fuzzy, and will come off when it is touched.
if you want to see if it is mineral buildup, you can wipe the leaves down with a damp paper towel or cloth, and if the spots re appear after the leaves dry, it is just build up!
good luck!

Thank you!! Would you suggest changing the soil? Usually I wait till the soils dried out before changing soils.

you can repot if you want, but unless its been a year-ish since its last soil change then its not nessicary :)

No need to change the soil. I wouldn't be surprised if you actually made the leaves appear worse by spraying with the baking soda! All that white stuff could be dried baking soda, in the same way water dried in the first place and left the mineral residue. Your plant looks very healthy, let us know if it comes off with the damp cloth :)

although the pot does look a bit small. if you upsize, only go up 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball

Hmmm those spots don’t really look like mildew to me but then again I have not ever dealt with powdery mildew.
