can anyone tell me why these new unfurled leaves already have crispy black spots? there are two new leaves that both have black spots like this. (ignore the paper had to use it to help focus the camera lol)

repotted about 3 weeks ago and no root rot or anything like that. could repotting possibly be the cause…?

thank u for anything!!

could be root stress from repotting — or low humidity. is it near an AC?

not near and AC and the window nearby is always shut. humidity meter says all good too. i could mist more often i suppose?

I wouldn’t mist at all — that could be the problem. Misting opens you up to rot and fungal issues, gnats too. If you’re misting and then it’s getting sun that could cause burns, too.

makes sense, thank you!!

Yeah I also had this problem with misting my monstera

My peace lily does that to me all the time. Seems no matter what I do there's always one or two leaves like that.

Do you have particularly hard water in your area? It can cause the tips of new growths to be brown/black

#### alex replied on 2024-07-07

no i live in the countryside so it’s not too hard. however my grandma has been looking after it for a while - she used tap water whereas i have always used filtered water. could be that!

Thrips damage?

#### alex replied on 2024-07-13

it had thrips about two months ago but as far as i can see it’s cured. the other plants around it dont have thrips either and i check it every couple of days. this leaf grew after the thrip problem was solved but could it have prolonged effects?

Nah. If this was after the thrips were gone then it’s something else
