# My chive plant is on the verge of death. I have tried diffusing the…

My chive plant is on the verge of death. I have tried diffusing the light it gets, misting it daily, circulating air around it and trimming it back but it just looks more and more dead every day. I have only watered it once in the past 10 days or so as I was previously told it may be in shock from a pot transfer I did. Please help me!

That pot looks to be too big - it’s holding any excess water and causing the roots to rot. I would repot into a smaller starter pot.

I totally agree the pot is oversized. You should only increase the pot width by 1” or 2” to avoid rotting the roots. I recommend getting new plants. The yellowing is excessive on these. Don’t repot unless the roots are over grown. I pull off the pot in the store to check for overgrowth. The nursery staff can point out the best size pot to use for the next repot and give you soil recommendations. Your soil needs lots more perlite and organic matter that’s helpful.
