# Has anybody had luck with monkey mask my friend gave me two clippings…

Has anybody had luck with monkey mask my friend gave me two clippings and I have it on these stairs and I put it out in the sun during the day but it keeps getting brown and it’s really cool I don’t want it to die

If I’m understand your “put it out during the day” comment to mean it’s moving around a lot, that could be contributing to the stress on the plant because its environment is inconsistent.

Another thought would be to check moisture levels and roots. It looks droopy so I’m wondering if it’s over or under watered. A pic of the soil would be helpful for diagnosing.

Yep and if that doesn’t help chop it up between nodes which are the things that are letting out rutes and put the rutes in water.

I have had no luck. Two plants died on me. I will try again, but not right now. Maybe next spring. Meanwhile, my sister has had one for 3 years, and it’s growing as fast as weed.

I have three…. Two are cutting I have rooting in water and one is my baby sponge bob who’s thriving being hosted on the waterfall feature of one of my aquariums. They like to stay moist but not waterlogged and they love grow lights if bright indirect is not available.

“I put it out in the sun during the day”. If you mean it’s getting direct sun outside most of the day. Most tropical plants can not handle outside direct sun. They are losing moisture faster than they can take it in, plus they will get sunburned. If it’s a young plant, the root system may be minimal too. Plus in a terracotta pot. How often are you needing to water? So maybe a less sunny location would work during the day.

Thank you I have a couple answers and questions

Whoever told me to chop it up do you mind showing me nodes because I get so confused I know what they are but I don’t exactly know where to cut it

Yes it does get full sun when I put it outside and the reason I do is cause it doesn’t get any sun where it is

I do water it with the app but I do extra water cause it just seems so dry half the time
