Got a new plant here but wanted some advice on why the soil is fluffy and how to prevent that? (I’ve only watered once since purchase)

I took a look at your monstera info and I think I understand the problem. I couldnt tell if this is a mineral buildup or mold issue initially from the picture and honestly it could be one or both. You need drainage because it looks far too wet still. I'd opt for a repot with a coco fiber and peat, perlite, just soil with better drainage + drainage hole in the pot bc these can get root rot. It seems to be too damp for too long. Happy growing
