# The biggest leaf on my monstera is starting to yellow…what does this…

The biggest leaf on my monstera is starting to yellow…what does this mean? How can I help it?

I just got plant food to add into the water so I think that should help in general but I am not sure the specific cause of the problem.

If you’ve had it in water for a while and have never given it fertilizer, then that definitely could be the problem.

I change my water 1x every 7-10 days and always add in a diluted fertilizer. Seems to keep my monstera in water extremely happy.

you can always just switch it to a chunky dirt that drains well but using filtered water helps a lot too, a lot of plants don’t like all the bad stuff in tap water!
