# Anyone know why my Pothos is turning yellow and has these brown…

Anyone know why my Pothos is turning yellow and has these brown spots? I got her from Lowe’s not long ago, I don’t remember if she had these then. I also have a fungus gnat infestation if that could cause any of this.

It probably has too much water sitting in the soil. Moist soil from overwatering supports fungus gnats because it causes root rot. Fungus gnats feed on the decay.

I recommend checking the soil. Change it out. Rinse the roots with hydrogen peroxide to disinfect. Water every time with BMC drops or Mosquito Bits. Both have the Bti beneficial bacteria that kills off the fungus gnats larvae in the soil. Yellow sticky traps kills the adults. 🪴🍀

I repotted her, fresh soil and soaked the roots, made sure there was no old dirt left, and used a new pot. I didn’t see any root rot, which is good, but she definitely needed a smaller pot, the one she came in was way too big. I did notice some of the arial roots were rotted because someone wrapped it in the pot on soggy soil at Lowe’s. I cut off the rotted bits and I’m hoping it’ll stay healthy.

That’s great! I’m sure she will do better with a fresh start.
