# Hey! It’s my first time owning a Golden Photos and I would like to…

_Geplaatst door Borizoe op 2024-01-27_

Hey! It’s my first time owning a Golden Photos and I would like to know if I’m doing this right. I see some yellow leaves which concerns me a little. I’ve just got it a week ago, it gets indirect sunlight and I only watered once, yesterday, when I felt the soil a bit dry.
The pot it came in does not have drainage holes so I was thinking of maybe making some holes on the bottom, scared of affecting the roots if I do go ahead and do it. Re planting is an option too but I have been too busy at work lately to do so. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

You definitely need drainage holes. Pothos is one of the easiest, most forgiving plants there is. So don’t worry about fussing too much over it. It does its own thing. Low maintenance.

if this is the costa farms 8” plastic pot i think it is, the bottom should snap off so you can water your plant thoroughly. turn the drainage tray and you should feel the plastic locks disengage, then it can be just pulled off.
pothos will lose lower leaves like this if they’re not getting enough light or if they’re pot bound

happy to help. i have my largest string of hearts potted in one of these, left the tray attached, and typically i pour water very slowly over top until i can see a small amount collected in the drainage tray. let it sit for a half hour or so to see if the excess water’s absorbed, and then detach and empty the tray. it makes watering a lot easier !

Hey I’m sorry I don’t have the time to read all of the replies you got but my golden boi did this a couple months ago and every single thing I looked up said that it was overwatering so I just didn’t water it and it kept happening so I wound up not watering it for over two months😅🫣🤦🏻‍♀️
(had I used my brain a little bit? I probably could’ve figured it out.) but it actually needed more water

but I did see something about somebody saying you didn’t have drain holes definitely put those in your pot but in a little bit if you watering less doesn’t help water it a little more in my experience🤷🏻‍♀️
