I think my carrot fern has root rot, so I bought some 3% hydrogen peroxide mix to trend the roots. But I’ve never used this before? Can someone please tell me the best way to go about it? Thanks ahead of time! 💚

oh no! hope this helps.
cut off any dead, mushy roots.
mix 3-1 water-peroxide and let the remaining roots soak to rid of the bacteria causing rot. then you can give it a rinse and fresh water or plant in soil. careful to avoid peroxide on any greenery. good luck!

So I checked out his roots and there’s no rot whatsoever! I’m a little stumped as to what’s going on. His “furry feet” are growing like crazy, but he’s lost almost all his foliage. I repotted him in a potting mix with more peat it in and moved him to a slightly shadier spot, so fingers crossed he’ll make it.

could be dormancy but i know ferns like more light so careful there. just prune where you can and keep a steady routine. the great thing is its roots are good so it can be nursed to health! what’s the humidity like? is there a draft near the plant?

I think it might be a change of light. I recently moved him from the window to under a grow light, and he was doing great before this. I’ll see what happens if I move him back. TYSM!

i will typically shake off excess dirt, remove all the rot, spray with 3% hydrogen peroxide, repot, and water. if the roots are thoroughly compromised i might opt for a soak instead— mix 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide to at least 3 parts water and let the roots soak for at least 15 minutes or so to be sure all the microbes are dead

Thanks!! I’ll see how bad it is and let the roots soak if needed. Great tip! 🙏
