# I keep on getting random leaves turn yellow here and there not to to…

_My plants님이 2024-01-15에 게시함_

I keep on getting random leaves turn yellow here and there not to to often. But I don’t think it’s good! I’ve been watering it when it tells me. I do have a lot of flys are they bad for my plant? Could that be the problem?

(Also my plant gets direct sunlight for about an hour or so then the rest is just sunlight in the room directed in other places.)

Direct sunlight can be too harsh on pothos plants unless the light is filtered through sheer curtains/shade cloth or it’s from sunrise/sunset when the sun’s intensity is lower.

Fungus gnats produce larvae that eat the roots of plants causing leaves and vines/stems to die from damage and rot. Treat the fungus gnats if those are the flies you reference. Mosquito Bits applied to the soil and the water while watering is proven effective against fungus gnats and other insects that lay eggs in soil. It breaks the lifecycle.

Water only when the soil is dry or almost completely dry. The leaves will droop and fold slightly when it’s dry. Use a bamboo skewer, chopsticks or other tool inserted into the soil to check for no dampness before watering.

Strictly following the Planta app’s schedule can kill off the plant from over or under watering. The app is a guide. It doesn’t know every variable in your environment that can affect the drying speed of the soil in your pots. Fungus gnats are a clear sign the soil is not drying out enough between watering.🍀🪴

Mosquito Bits is made from the BTI bacteria that is commonly found in soil. It’s organic and harmless to pets and animals. So, it can be used in fish ponds, bird baths and farm animal troughs per the manufacturer.

if they are all close to the base of the plant it can be natural for the leaves just to die! it’s normal for older leaves to die over time
