They also need distilled water when watering, using tap water will cause those brown spots.

With calatheas, if they’re getting dried out brown leaves, the most likely issue is that there isn’t enough humidity. They need at least a little bit constantly by way of a humidity tray, humidifier, or terrarium. Once you get that solved, it should absolutely thrive.
