# Looking for advice on my Sequoia Giganteum! I live in Humboldt…

Looking for advice on my Sequoia Giganteum! I live in Humboldt County, which is the native area for Sequoia sempervirens (coastal redwoods). This giant sequoia (the giant redwood type found in Yosemite) has been doing well since I moved here in 2021. It’s about 10-12 years old now!  
With more growth it loses some small branches and has its lower branches turn brown and die off in the summer when it’s warm or under watered, but this winter it’s losing way more branches than usual!

I pruned off the dead branches and used them as mulch for the tree, but I’m worried the tree will continue to lose more or too much. Any advice?  
FYI, We rarely get hard freezes here because of the high humidity so I don’t think frost is an issue. It gets good morning light and has new growth on most of the top tips. I transplanted the tree into this bigger pot over summer of 2023 and it grew really well after the transplant.

Any input is welcomed!!
