# i was gifted this monstera and i know nothing about them. I was gone…

i was gifted this monstera and i know nothing about them. I was gone for a week and the leaves have turned brown or are yellowing. I’m not sure what to do or anything. any advice would be awesome!!

How wet is your soil? It looks like it could be overwatered. Monsteras need to dry out completely before watering. The best thing to do would be to repot it. Could be a good opportunity to improve the soil (monsteras like well draining soil with perlite)

would i be able to use the same pot if i resoil?

Yes! I’d recommend a pot with drainage holes though, so check if it has a hole on the bottom

Those glass watering bulbs/ reservoirs don’t allow the soil to dry out and leads to root rot. I never use them.

I agree with this. I only use them on outdoor plants during the summer
