I think it’s to kill bugs like gnats

Oh…ok never heard of that one. But I don’t see why it wouldn’t work, but I personally would not want to release ladybugs in my house. I used mosquito bites. It works wonders.

Isn’t really hard to find actual ladybugs and the ones we see in nature are actually a type of beetle that mimics the ladybugs markings for survival?

No, there are beetles that mimic ladybugs but that doesn’t mean ladybugs are hard to find! All ladybugs are beetles also.
