my coin plant is really leggy i don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that but it doesn’t look very pretty 😭 it’s been pushing out babies but i remove them to propagate for new coin plants. i’ve also noticed how cupped the leaves are. i got it a couple months ago at a garden center. is something wrong with it?

These are my all time fave plant. This is how I keep mine healthy:
They sit in a window getting full direct or indirect light.
I water when the plant is basically all dry and the leaf stems are starting to turn downwards.
If the top leaves are going yellow it means they’re getting too much water.
If the bottom leaves are yellow it means it’s time to either repot with lots of fresh soil or fertilise.
I think the cupped leaves mean it’s not getting enough light , but mine have full light 7 hours a day and they’re still cupped so what can you do?! 😂

Hope this was useful! X

Yikes! This guy is in rough shape.

Leggy growth means it’s reaching for something it doesn’t have, likely sun. Pilea like lots of bright indirect light. I’m not sure where you have it now, but consider moving it closer to a window or getting it a grow light.

The damage on the leaves is a sure indicator of some type of pest. It looks like it’s probably mealy bugs from these photos. I think I see a few. Remove any you can see with a q-tip soaked in hydrogen peroxide. Then, treat the plant with insecticide 1-2 times a week for a month, maybe even once a week for two.

Mealy bugs can be difficult to get rid of. They are probably living in the soil, so if you replant this with fresh soil that would help too. If you do, remove all the old soil from the roots and spray the roots with hydrogen peroxide. Pilea like rich but well draining soil. Consider a coir based soil with perlite mixed in to increase drainage.

Last thing - water. Mealy bugs are generally attracted to over watered plants. If you got this from a garden center it may have come with the pests. Water only when the soil is almost completely dried out, and when you water give it a really full water.

I don’t see active mealy bugs, but I definitely agree with the overwatering and not enough light! It is usually best to treat for pests if you even suspect them
