# Hello! Can someone please help me with my basil plant? When I bought…

Hello! Can someone please help me with my basil plant? When I bought it last month, the leaves were a little shriveled and it was already a pretty large plant. Since then I have researched it a bunch and trimmed it down and water it whenever the soil is completely dry. I also make sure to drain the pot to prevent root rot. I have it in front of a very large window, so it gets adequate sun all day. Please note that I do not open up this window so it doesn’t get exposed to the cold air. Ever since the cold weather has started, my basil plant has been drooping and looking awful. Any words of advice?

Is the air near the window cold? If so that’s probably your problem

Oh perhaps. I didn’t even think about that haha. I just moved to Rhode Island from New Orleans so obviously I am not used to the cold weather. Ha ha. Any advice on how to keep my plant warm even though it absolutely needs to be by the window to get adequate sun?

Bathroom. Humidity 😉 (as long as there’s a window)

Add a grow light and move it to a warmer location.

Also, it looks under watered. I’ve planted basil in a garden and in pots for many years. I treat it like other herbs and my tomato plants. I never let the plant completely dry out. Insufficient water maybe another reason the plant droops.

Haha thank you! She needs some help  
But thanks to the wonderful people  
On this thread I think I can get her back into shape :)
