# My dieffenbachia is dying and I have no clue why or not to stop it.…

My dieffenbachia is dying and I have no clue why or not to stop it. It was looking pretty rough so I used the dr Planta and it said it was because of a lack of drainage. So I repotted it into a pot with drainage holes and cut off all the dead leaves. Now even more leaves have totally turned yellow or died. At this point it’s just a few pathetic looking stems. Anything I can do to revive it or is it a total lost cause? I’m really sad because this was my first ever house plant I ever bought myself and I’ve had it for around 3ish years.

Also did you update the plants care settings? Like size of plant, size of pot, type of soil. Closeness to the window etc. plants is just a recommendation but if all that information has been set your watering schedule should be pretty close to accurate.

Ah ya know what I don’t think I did. I think I added drainage but forgot to edit the size of the new pot (which is considerably smaller than the last one as I realized the root system wasn’t very large)

Oh ok. Makes sense. The larger pot would need less water but the smaller pot would dry out faster so it wasn’t getting enough water. Go back and do that for all your plants. I think you said other plants were drying out too.

Hey there I’m noticing that your plant is very leggy have you given any thought about cutting some of the stalks or maybe one and try rerooting to see if you can start over. Seems like you will eventually have to cut because they are known to become top heavy . Had similar issue used some rooting powder and placed in water and it paid off. At any rate hope it survives 🙏🏽🙏🏽
