My bonsai tree keeps loosing a significant amount of leaves. They turn yellow on a daily basis. Is there something I am missing?!

Have you repotted it since you got it? Take a look at the roots maybe it could be a water retention issue

Did you get it from IKEA? I ask because it looks very similar to mine.

It came in coir which would not dry out. Not good for a ginseng ficus. The swollen base holds water so it will want the media to dry out.

I moved mine to a very gritty bonsai mix of pumice, lava and akadama 2+ years ago. It didn’t seem to notice the transition at all.

Ikea doesn’t use the best substrate. That said, mine is still in the same substrate. Let it dry out more than what planta says between waterings, or swap out for a better soil.
