Hi guys!
I joined the plant world about a year ago but recently have taken it a lot more seriously but I have a question, I have some fungus gnats on my allocasia amazonica which I am treating and I have isolated from my other plants. I have some flying around my room and it’s now time to water my other plants but I am a bit worried that if I water my other plants the gnats will start to affect my other plants. Can I water my plants without worrying?? Help!

They are terrible right now!! I’m dealing with them too. I’ve sprinkled cinnamon in my soil, and got sticky traps.. also going to order a trap on Amazon. They’re driving me nuts!😂

I didn’t have luck with the vinegar, but red wine caught a lot. I tried coffee grounds, plus 4 parts water to 1 part hydrogen peroxide. I ended up repotting with new soil, since I didn’t want them to spread . I will water less since I’ve read that is a cause. Literally, everyone I know has gnats even friends in Canada. They’re just bad this year for all. Hang in there!

Put sand or leca on top of your soil and it stops them laying eggs in it! Both of them are light enough for any new shoots to come through

Ugh, sorry to hear you’re dealing with this frustrating pest. Sticky sticks are good. A couple other things you could try are: making a camomile tea brew and water your plants with that, bottom water only, turn up the top 2-3cm or so of soil to help dry it out, and sprinkle the top of the soil with diatomaceous earth which shreds up the larvae and gnats. (It can also be watered in from the top down if needed.) Good luck!! 🤞

Systemic Granules are the best thing since sliced bread. Got to kill the eggs.
