# Hi, I found that my Guiana Chestnut/money tree had a bunch of ants in…

_Pubblicato da Kaki il 2023-10-02_

Hi,
I found that my Guiana Chestnut/money tree had a bunch of ants in the soil when I went to water it the other day. I sprayed it with a warm water, dish soap, and organic pest control spray that has peppermint oil, and submerged it in water to get the ants out, then repotted it. Today I came back to check and there are ants on it again, so I’ve put it outside then I’ll probably get rid of it. My problem now is that keep seeing some more ants crawling on my windowsill around my other plants and I’m worried they’re going to get into my other plants. I’ve read that they only go into plants if the plant is sick or has mildew or something, so I’m hoping they won’t go in my others if there’s nothing wrong with them? But Is there anything I should do to keep them out of the rest of my plants? And how do I know they’re not getting in my others now? Thanks for any help!

Ants in my plants soil has been a huge problem for me too so I’d love to hear any suggestions as well!
What I’ve been doing is putting cinnamon and cayenne on top of my soil and this has been helping but not solving anything

Ants leave a trail back to their nest for other ants to follow. They will always come back if that trail is undisturbed. You should wipe out the nest by following the ants back to it and use ant powder at the nest. They treat the powder as food taking it into the nest. It takes a few days for the ants to die.
You can use ant spray outside the window. They will get the message the trail leads to death. They might come back later once the ant poison wears off.
A professional exterminator will treat the entire perimeter or outside wall with ant poison. They will treat inside the home, if needed. The ant poisons are not organic but highly effective against ants including fire ants in my subtropical region.

Had the same problem with ants in some of my plants ended up changing soil and got a spray bottle put apple cider vinegar in it and started spraying around my windows to keep them from getting in and near my plants. Do not spray plants with vinegar but spray area where ants are coming in. Good luck
