# Hello! Please help! Why has my dracenea developed all of these yellow…

_Posted by Clo on 2023-10-01_

Hello! Please help! Why has my dracenea developed all of these yellow spots? She has been healthy for almost 2 years, and then we moved this summer and the yellow spots started appearing. I recently repotted to see if that would help (bigger pot, all fresh well-draining soil). Any advice would be very helpful!

define bigger pot. the pot should only be 1-2 inches bigger then the root ball. the misconception is that a bigger pot implies bigger foliage which isn’t true for houseplants. i’d suspect root rot, overwatering (could be caused by a too large pot) or shock

I went from a 10 in to a 12 inch. From what I have read, the internet seems to agree with over watering. Any chance they will heal or should I remove the yellowed leaves?

i would remove any yellow leaves. i’d let it dry out almost all the way in between watering but you can mist the leaves if you wanted

Plants are very sensitive and can take a moment to adjust to their new surroundings, you’ll need to pay close attention it could be where the plant is located and water needs. You might have to change the need for water and light until the plant gets use to its new surroundings. 🙏🏽 it survives

I personally would cut one of the stalks and try rooting in water and see if that works after all you have nothing to lose and it just might save at least one of them. If that works then try with the other. But that’s just my personal opinion. Good luck
