# Just saved an adansonii from a farm, is there anyway to quickly get…

Just saved an adansonii from a farm, is there anyway to quickly get rid of these bugs, or is anyone able to identify them? I was planning on giving her a shower with dawn dish soap to get them off and clean her? I did this for my other plants and it seemed to work well with getting rid of bugs, but if anyone has anything else then let me know!!

This is mealybug and they’re easy to kill with rubbing alcohol. Go in with a cotton swab and squish each one individually and then spray the whole plant with alcohol or insecticidal soap. Make sure not to put it in bright light again until it’s dry. You’ll have to repeat this often, as I find mealybug is hard to completely eliminate. They like the new growth, so start by looking there. I personally even use systemic granules to treat my plants, and that doesn’t even seem to get rid of them. They always come back 😔

If i were to do this then spray them with a protecting spray and neem oil would that be good? Should I cut off any leaf thats dying?

Yeah that would help, but you’d have to do it like once or twice a week until you’re sure they’re gone. Cutting off a dying leaf would be your personal preference

Above is correct! The only thing I would add is to try and make sure the alcohol doesn’t get on the roots because it will kill them
