# Hi I’m new to the group so hello… Noticed my plant not doing so well…

Hi I’m new to the group so hello…  
Noticed my plant not doing so well and very leggy, noticed tiny white deposits on stem a while ago, tried to wash off using sponge (somewhat successful), have now noticed tiny flies when moving pot… any idea of what I can do without killing it and safe for animals please.  
Apologies for the naivety, I’m very new to all this

Was the white stuff kinda chalky and broke away easily?

No there were tiny specks

That could be a pest I can’t remember the name but they are quite small and like to infest house plants

Also the little flies are most likely fungus gnats, mostly harmless although the maggots can affect plant growth and such
