Am I watering too much? Got this plant from Aldi for a steal but she look unhappy with yellowing leaves. I new to tropical-ish plants.

Most likely overwatering, does the pot have drainage holes? A lot of times the nursery pot will be seated in the cover pot so if you water without removing it, you’ll overwater. But, when in doubt check the roots, that’ll give you a definitive answer.

Yes it’s overwatered, make sure you have drainage holes. Water once per 6-9 days. It may take a few weeks to figure out just how often it likes to be watered

Well for starters that is not a tropical plant

That’s a Dieffenbachia Panther. It’s overwatered. Needs bright, filtered light behind a curtain. Sometimes plants from the stores come in dense potting soil that takes forever to drain. It robs the roots of oxygen. I’d get it repotted with some perlite in the mix.
