# mourning the loss of my monstera adonsoniis (what was supposed to be)…

mourning the loss of my monstera adonsoniis (what was supposed to be) new leaf :( idk what caused this. i followed all the instructions planta gave me and i’m watering her on time :/ any ideas?

The problem might be following Planta’s instructions (sorry!). It often tells me to water a plant that does NOT need to be watered. I use it to remind me only. I always check my soil with either my finger or a chopstick. For monstera adonsoniis (which I have the same one too), the top 2-3” of soil needs to be dry before watering again. And it gets plenty of incredible indirect light and a very little direct light every day. Depending on your situation in your home, if it gets less light, you won’t have to water as often. The more light = the more frequent you’ll have to water.

Use planta as a reminder, always check the soil first and snooze the task if its still got enough moisture.

I agree. I always use Planta as a reminder to keep my eye on the plants it’s suggesting to water.

However, I also have a similar problem to you with my Adonsoniis. Mine has returned from the dead about 3 times so far. Idk why I can’t get it right with this plant, but she refuses to give up on me, lol

monsteras are pretty hardy plants. mine almost died on me twice until I got it more light and the moss pole! now it grows like a weed!
