# Help ! I got this string of bananas/dolphin. It was doing beautifully…

Help ! I got this string of bananas/dolphin. It was doing beautifully , however the day I brought it home it did get a lot of sun in the car. It quickly started drying out. I have maybe watered it 2-3 times since I got it about a month ago. It keeps on drying I looked at the roots today and I am not sure what it needs ?! I don't want to over water it as I am prone to causing root rot a lot.

Did you repot it? If not, it could be the soil has become hydrophobic and just isn’t holding onto any of the water. Maybe just a change of soil would be good for it?

Nope I have not repotted it since I got it but yes could be a good idea ! Thanks !

Looks slightly pot bound to me— try repotting in a larger pot. Soil’s also maybe a little dry. I’ll let more knowledgeable folks on here chime in too, though.

Thanks I think I will repot and use a different soil mixture but I agree it also looks dry to me

i’ve had two and i’m pretty sure i’ve killed both now 😂
