# I’ve had my hoya for a couple months now, and it finally grew a new…

_Gepostet von Nicole am 2023-08-21_

I’ve had my hoya for a couple months now, and it finally grew a new leaf a couple weeks ago. However, the leaf is distorted and small. The whole plant has become droopy, and the leaves feel floppy.

Initially the plant was in very hard, compacted soil, which I believe led to water draining through the pot without any moisture being retained in the soil. I repotted it into a faster draining mix. The roots looked healthy. Since then, it’s continued to droop.

It’s not getting better or worse, and it’s been a couple of weeks now. I don’t want to water it again in case it has been overwatered, but I really don’t know why it’s not getting any better.

There could be several explanations for drooping: underwatering, low humidity, root bound, to name a few. I can’t see the condition of the plant in the picture (probably why no one responses). So, I would guess underwatering, since, you added fast draining soil to a plant that was not getting sufficient water from the previous soil mix. Try increasing the watering.

Secondly, increase the humidity and brighten the indirect lighting. The plant looks leggy. Brighter lighting would increase both leaf and root growth boosting the plant. Higher humidity simulate the natural environment.

I would say check the root system again. The pot maybe too small for the growing plant. I hope this helps 🪴🍀

Additionally, ensure it is regularly fertilized in the growing season to boost plant health. I hope this helps.

Sorry, I added some up close pictures just now! I just gave it a thorough watering. I will move the plant to a different, brighter room and add a humidifier. When I repotted the plant, the pot did seem a bit small, but I read that they like to be rootbound? Since it’s not happy though, I’ll try repotting. Thank you so so much for the in depth advice!!!!!

I didn’t even realize it was a Hoya Kerr!🤣 But, I’m new to Hoyas and never owned one.
I can see the droop. Hopefully, the lighting increase, water and repotting will help. Let me know how it does. 🪴🍀

I’ve kept a zombie leaf alive for a couple years but seems like the whole plant is harder 😅

I was scared it had thrips at first but was told the white specks are “splash” and nothing to worry about.
