# Hi Community, One of leaves of my monstera was tucked behind a poster…

Hi Community,

One of leaves of my monstera was tucked behind a poster on the adjacent wall. Once I saw this I pulled the leaf away to discover that the portion of the leaf that was tucked away had completely turned black. Is the solution to this issue as simple as allowing the damaged portion of the leaf to see light again? Is it permanent? Thank you in advance for any advice/feedback from the community.

It’s permanent unfortunately, you can choose to trim it for aesthetic reasons, but leaving it shouldn’t hurt the plant either ☺️

I agree. I left the black on mine, but you can always cut it and pretend it’s fenestration!
