The lower leaves on my western columbine (Aquilegia formosa) have been yellowing, withering, and browning pretty consistently since I got it. I’ve just been plucking the ones that look super bad and watering normally for the species but it actually seems to be getting worse so I think something is wrong? At first I thought maybe sunburn or something but the only leaves that are affected are the lower ones so I’m starting to suspect something fungal or bacterial? The rest of the plant actually seems super healthy so idk what’s going on.

It could be a few of things:
1\) Stress from moving to a new location causing leaves to stop. It frequently happens. Some plants quickly recover usually in less than a week.
2\) Spider mites - That web may be an indication. (I’m assuming it’s a spider web in the photo.) Isolate this plant from others. Treat with Neem oil or a diluted dishwashing liquid and water mixture on every leaf, front and back.
3\) Overwatering - Check for muddy root ball with root rot, mushy and smelly roots. If so, remove the rot and muddy soil. Repot with appropriate potting mix. Ensure the planter had good drainage. Use Planta’s watering schedule as a guide. Water when soil dries to inch from top.

The spiderweb is a literal spider that I’ve named Fred and allowed to stay on the plant to eat pests Lol.

Lower leaves yellowing as opposed to the whole plant typically indicates rootbound issues. I’d pull the plant and check.

I’ve very recently repotted it so I don’t think so but I’ll check. Thanks.
