Maybe not enough water or incorrect light is when it changes color

Or even overwatering I’d suggest bottom watering or watering through and letting it drain access

Do I need to cut the yellow top off ????

I wouldn’t till it’s dead, because if it is in the process of dying their still is a ton of nutrients in it and it’s best to let it die before it gets cut. Basically as a plant dies or goes through something access nutrients stored in passing parts of a plant are moved around and from that point to the rest of the plant.

Leave it. As long as it has green leaves. It needs more light and proper watering/misting.
