this is a moon valley pilea. it had an infestation of thrips that ruined a lot of older leaves; they have since been trimmed off and the stems have been washed and treated with neem oil. it’s been mad for a while, but it now growing some baby leaves. however, there is a now white spot on the top of one of the stalks. i don’t know what this is? at first i was scared it may be the start of mealy bugs but i don’t really think that’s what it is. i’ve never had mealy bugs before, though, so can someone help identify what this is and if i need to do something about it?

If it was my plant and I had been dealing with mealy bugs (which I haven’t because the time I had them my plant flat out died before I figured it out back then) I would take a qtip or my nail and try to remove it. I might even put rubbing alcohol on the qtip to be sure I was killing any potential. And I’d move my plant to quarantine just in case.
Planta said it can take several weeks or months to make sure they’re gone. It tells you how to deal with them on the info page for your particular kind of plant.
