Anyone have experience with this little difficult one? I will be setting up the water tray for her because she just hates it since We painted the room this week! Today I found brown spots so I moved her back away from the light. 😣

I’ve had a maidenhair fern for a bit now! They are prone to burning in the sun because of how thin their leaves are. They also love water but hate to sit in it (which is why I dump out any extra water left in the tray it sits in 30 minutes to an hour after watering). They like some humidity as well, again because of how delicate they are! And as you well know they can be finicky with changes or stress. Hopefully now that she’s out of the sun and with the painting done, she’ll bounce back!

Thanks! The walls were white before and she loved that.... painted them and she immediately threw a fit. 😔

Ugh that’s always so frustrating!

I had mine almost die recently, but for the last few months it grew back bigger than before. Here is what I’ve done: repotted to 50% soil, 30% Lechuza terrapon, 20% pine bark. I used quite small nursing pot only a little bit bigger than root system. It sits on the window facing window, but it is quite light room with sky lights - so it has a lot of light, but not a direct midday sun. Water and fertilize using planta schedule.
However I have done it back in April when it was naturally actively growing.
Hope that helps.

Looking at your picture, I would suggest to check if there are drainage holes in your pot, if not - it needs reporting. If it sits in a nursery pot it looks like there is no room between walls, which stops airflow and drying of roots through the bottom holes. Also adding more drainage to your soil mix would help prevent water sitting in a pot

Thanks. Shes in a plastic orchid pot that sits on the ceramic one to catch any extra water. She sits high on rocks. She is doing better since I moved her away from the window and let her get used to the new paint color. I am assuming maybe she was sensitive to the paint fumes but I will save this info. She was repotted in a cactus mix with perlite so the soil drains.
