Was he doing ok before going outside? I figure you have him in pretty close to same light outside but it’s probably way hotter outside than he might be used to. According to the info page the plant prefers to be kept under 83 degrees. That doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t adjust to higher temps— but he’d prefer to be cooler.
If you really want him outside for the summer, you might have to keep close watch to see if he comes around to being ok with it.

My pilea does really well inside with a grow light for about 8 hours a day. Hope he gets better!

My pilea is a total hag. She's fine and then all of a sudden she's dropping stems like flies. I have learned that they are very sensitive to over watering and too much light. I had mine on the top shelf of my plant stand and it was struggling. So I moved her near the bottom and she’s out of control now. I’d say try to move it back inside if you can open up a spot. Or even use a grow light. Then it’s ok if it doesn’t have the best light where it ends up.

I bet i can fit her underneath my shelf where most of my plants reside inside. it’s just so annoying how touchy it is!! will be fine, like you said, then is dropping stems and yellowing the next week. i’m super careful about watering so!!!! it’s just frustrating lol
