I added soil to the pot and then watered, about a week later I noticed all the bottom leaves become mushy and fall off.  
I took it out of the pot to see if I can save it.  
What do y’all think?

Oh yeah, 200% savable. Just make sure you have drainage and try again!

Thanks. Ill try that. 🤞🏼 It was an anniversary gift so I def want to try to keep him alive!

Add some pebbles to the bottom of the pot for better drainage and that should do the trick
