Do cut the leaves off with the spots? Dr. Planta person said to “flush the pot” for a few months. I sized her down a pot, and that helped some. Just not sure about the spots. Also, when you flush the pot, does that mean with distilled or rain water?

I would try to accept minor flaws like that as part of the beauty of imperfection. The leaf is still productive and photosynthesizing for the plant. My rule of thumb is unless 1/2 or more of the leaf is sick, leave it be. If it starts to spread or worsen, you can reassess.

The convo about water is a big one… but basically, if you happen to have rain water or distilled on hand, ALL plants would prefer it. But if not, this particular plant will be just fine with tap water. That being said, in an ideal world, one should test the PH of your tap water and adjust it to be in the 5.5-6 PH (acidic) for all your houseplants. This will allow the plant to uptake nutrients best. Not sure how up for all that you are, but there it is. There are also other solutions like API stress coat which will purify city tap water without having to buy distilled all the time.

Flushing is always good every once in a while if you can’t do it every time you water. Helps the roots to rid of excess minerals.

Thanks. I switched to watering them with purified drinking water since my tap water isn’t great for plants. It seems to be helping.

It could be rust fungus, I would recommend spraying it with an anti fungal spray
